This time I’m trying something totally new to me

I like playing along with music I like
As a kid sampling music was a crime
the prevailing thought was samples longer than 1 second had to be paid for
DJs would take a lot of different songs, the art is in the choice in songs, reading the crowd, the transitions between
Then that in-between part became more the focus
Then overtly layering known parts of huge songs in new and interesting ways became the art.

What’s next? Steal the stolen, recycle it now. Take an existing song and add a new track to it. Add harmonies, missing instruments, more layers, new takes, play off one instrument in the existing.

No matter what we do, as simple and automated as things get there will always be a moment where we have to decide. Choose. Make decisions.
It can be automated, but ‘life’, the ‘art’, whatever will always distill down to making choices.

4 tracks on 4track iphone app. 94bpm 6/8. Drop D tuning. Started with drone D on acoustic bass, added nylon with pick for harmonics, then nylon with pick for more rhythm, then a higher acoustic bass track. No editing.
